CEREC® allows the completion of a ceramic tooth restoration chairside, using an optical impression of the damaged tooth, eliminating the traditionally uncomfortable and cumbersome process of taking a physical impression. Further, the Filling or Crown is manufactured in-house the same day!
The milled restoration is extremely precise, very durable, and made with biocompatible tooth-colored material.
In addition, the procedure allows us to treat patients more conservatively, as modern bonding techniques allow more healthy tooth structure to be saved.
We can restore chipped teeth and replace old amalgam fillings while you wait. CEREC® is a ‘digital infrared camera – medical grade PC and milling machine’, all located at Sawgrass Dental Arts.
NO Metal Work, NO Temporaries, NO Laboratory Visits…
CEREC® is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Aesthetic Ceramics. Translated, it means that a dentist can economically restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural colour of other teeth.
CEREC® is comprised of a digital infrared camera, a medical grade computer and a milling machine, all located on site at Sawgrass Dental Arts. The system allows the Doctor to repair a damaged tooth in about one hour using tooth-colored ceramic restorations.
No More Teeth Molds
The camera takes an optical impression of the damaged tooth, eliminating the need for cumbersome and uncomfortable impression molds, and uploads the image to the computer. Once in the system, the Doctor uses 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to design the restoration. Then the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) system takes over to automatically create the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the new custom-crafted restoration is bonded to the remaining healthy tooth tissue of the damaged tooth.
Only One, On-site Appointment
Restorations created using CEREC® technology offer dental patients a long-lasting, aesthetic alternative to silver, gold or plastic fillings and crowns. Better yet, the patient can receive this smile-altering care in a shorter period of time. Traditional approaches often required a return appointment after the patient waited for the restoration to be manufactured in a separate lab. On-site milling eliminates the wait. CEREC® restorations are as durable as traditionally fabricated restorations and are similar to patients’ natural dentition in form and function.
Patients will benefit from more timely and more comfortable care that puts them back on track quickly. We are optimistic that the availability of CEREC® restorations will help some patients overcome their fears when they see how fast and painless the treatment process can be. We believe everyone should have access to their best smile, and CEREC® will make that possible for more people.
A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second visit has been eliminated. The CEREC® has over a decade of clinical research and documentation to support the technology. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and effective.
